Case Work

Bin Collection

New brown bin not emptied for two months. On my intervention it was discovered that the collection schedule had not been updated.

Development of the Main Road Post Office

I represented residents objections on the grounds of inadeqate parking, noise, odours and exploitation of school children by selling of unhealthy fast food. Planning application withdrawn.

Errors in Benefit Assessments

Errors and assumptions as to a residents income resulted in a claim for repayment of £2000. On my intervention this was reduced to the correct figure of £200.

Severely disabled resident living in unsuitable accomodation. I am working with Flagship Housing and the County Council to maintain awareness and identify suitable accomodation.

Neighbour Dispute

Alleged noise and odour nuisance caused by the keeping of a number of large dogs in metal cages in a small back garden. John arranged mediation. The dogs were subsequently moved to kennels.

Overgrowing Trees

Residents received poor service from council. On my intervention trees were cut back within two weeks.

Raw Sewage overflowing into Gardens

A problem that had been recurring every autumn for many years following heavy rain. I intervened with Water Watch and Anglian Water to have the connecting sewer flushed and inspected by camera. Since then there has been no recurrence.

Inadequate Street Lights

Inadequate lighting of a hammerhead in West Kesgrave following upgrade of lighting standards. I pursued the council. The defect was acknowledged and proper lighting provided.

Enforced Homelessness

A proportion of housing in Kesgrave is owned by people who purchased a number of houses under mortgage agreements intending to speculate on rising property prices. The deal is to let the houses at a rent which pays the mortgage and then some.. Recently there has been a disturbing increase in local residents made homeless through no fault of their own as a result of their landlords defaulting on mortgage payments. Usually the first the residents hear is a notice to quit within 14 days enforced by the threat of eviction by bailiffs. I have helped one couple to settle in new accomodation by fast tracking their case and interceding with the new landlord.

Defective Street Lights

Defective lighting East Kesgrave remained unrepaired for six months despite contacting the publicised emergency numbers. On John's intervention the defect has was rectified within four weeks.

Problems with the Schools Complaints Procedure

I intervened to mediate a satisfactory resolution to a long standing dispute.
