What Can Your Councillor Do For You?

If you are encountering difficulty, dissatisfaction or frustration with the County Council or District Councillor then seeking advice from your local councillor is a good way to obtaining resolution. Local councillors have right of access and challenge at all levels within the council to which they have been elected. Local councils are large and complex organisations and it is not easy for a member of the public to determine who or what too ask.


Enquiries from members of the public are funneled through a clearing house, Customer Services Direct or a receptionist. This works well in simple cases such as obtaining a blue badge but is less satisfactory if there is contention or complaint. In such case the issue needs to be taken direct to the officers who are not responding as they should or if need be escalated up the mangement change. This is a job best undertaken by your councillor.
